Abstract
Description
The objective of bachelor thesis „Methods for measuring intranet effectiveness using
Elion as an example“ was to define intranet effectiveness, describe characteristics of intranet
effectiveness and describe methods for measuring intranet effectiveness.
Two methods were chosen for further study and practical testing in order to analyse their
usability in Estonian context. The psychological methods – intranet check list by Murgolo-
Poore and semantic differentiate method were addressed intranet users’ perception of the por-
tal. The survey was conducted in a telecommunications firm Elion.
I was able to establish that these methods can be adapted for measuring intranet effective-
ness and have practical value in Estonian context, but both need further adjusting and study.
I trust that measuring intranet effectiveness will get more attention in Estonian organisa-
tions. It is important that methods are adopted that consider the specifics of intranet because
they help better understanding of the individual intranet of organisations and set strategy for
development. Also they give grounds for justification of the needs for intranet development and
resources to the executives that hold the resources. The overall result is more effective intran-
ets.
