Abstract
Käesolev töö on Adolf Turkini tõlgitud komikeelse Kalevala mitmekülgne käsitlus kirjandusliku tõlke ajaloo ja teooria kontekstis. Tähelepanu keskmes on eelkõige tõlketeksti leksikaalgrammatiline ja stilistiline analüüs võrdlevalt originaalteosega. Samuti on töös vaadeldud nii komi keelde kui ka komi keelest kirjandusliku tõlkimise ajaloo küsimusi.
Peatükis Tõlkepraktika (kirjandusliku tõlke) ajaloo küsimusi antakse kokkuvõtlik ülevaade komi tõlkimise ajaloost, käsitletakse Kalevala tõlkeid soome-ugri keeltesse, samuti soome eepose loomisega seotud küsimusi ja selle seoseid komi kirjanduse, rahvaluule ja kultuuriga.
Peatükis Tõlketeooria küsimusi (keelelis-stilistilised aspektid) võrreldakse Turkini Kalevala tõlget soomekeelse originaaliga. Tõlketeksti analüüsitakse leksikaalgrammatilisest ja stilistilisest aspektist. Leksikaalgrammatilisi küsimusi vaadeldakse tõlketransformatsioonide uurimisel, stilistilisi küsimusi originaali vormiliste ja keeleliste omapärade ning nende tõlkimise analüüsis. Eri keeltes tekstide kõrvutamine võimaldab seaduspäraste vastete ja erinevate transformatsioonide kasutamise väljaselgitamise, originaalse sisu deformeerumisfaktide avastamise ja tõlkija vigade leidmise. Taoline analüüs lubab välja selgitada, mil viisil ületatakse lähtekeele spetsiifikast, teose žanrist ja vormist (antud juhul soome arhailine murdekeel eepilise luule vormis) tulenevad tõlkeraskused.
Lisadena (CD) antakse komi tõlketegevuse ajaloo detailsem esitus viidetega konkreetsetele tõlgetele ning esitatakse 14 kalevala runo (1–10, 34, 40, 41, 44) soome keeles ja komi keeles Turkini tõlkes, Vassili Lõtkini tõlgitud 41. runo komi keeles, 49. runo fragment komi keeles Mihhail Jelkini tõlkes ja 1. runo algus permi-komi keeles Anna Istomina tõlkes.
The present thesis provides an analysis of the “Kalevala” epic translated into the Komi language by A. I. Turkin. The work is analysed within the context of the history and theory of translation. The primary aim of the analysis is to explore the features of vocabulary, grammar, and style of the translation as viewed against the background of the original text. For the purposes of analysis, questions pertaining to the history of translation into Komi and from Komi into other languages are considered. The chapter “Issues related to the history of translation (the translation of literary fiction)” gives a brief survey of the history of translations beginning from the early period of the Komi literary language to the present time. In this chapter the translations of the “Kalevala” into Finno-Ugric languages are reviewed. In connection with the works under consideration, some questions pertaining to the history of the creation of the Finnish epic, as well as to the relatedness of the “Kalevala” to Komi literature, folklore, and culture are discussed. The chapter “Issues related to the theory of translation (the aspects of language structure and style)” provides comparative analyses of the “Kalevala” translated into Komi by A. I. Turkin in relation to the original Finnish text. In the analysis of the translation, the aspects of lexis, grammar, and style are considered. The aspects of lexis and grammar are analysed from the point of view of translation transformations, while the aspect of style is in the focus of analysis with regard to the form and language used in the original text, on the one hand, and in relation to the means, or ways, of conveying them in the translation, on the other hand. The comparative analyses of the two texts allow the identification of parallels, transformations, and discrepancies in conveying the content of the original text. They also allow finding possible translation flaws. On the basis of these analyses it is possible to find out how problems connected with the specific features of the language, of the genre and of the form of the original text – namely, the archaic epic verse in dialect Finnish in the case of the “Kalevala” – are solved in the translation. The volume is provided with a CD that contains the “Appendices”: a detailed survey of the history of translation in the Komi language including references to concrete translations and the texts of the “Kalevala” in Finnish and in Komi – namely, the texts of fourteen “Kalevala” runes (1–10, 34, 40, 41, 44) translated by A. I. Turkin; the text of rune 41 translated by V. I. Lytkin; a fragment from rune 49 translated by M. El´kin; the opening part of rune 1 in Komi-Permian translated by A. Istomina.
