One of the most important areas for students of Business English is the vocabulary for describing trends.

Trends are changes or movements. These changes are normally in numerical items, e.g. costs, production volumes or unemployment.

There are three basic trends: upward, downward and constant trend.

The following sections will give you an overview of the following:

  • visuals used for describing trends
  • verbs of movement
  • verb forms and uses
  • prepositions used
  • adjectives and adverbs
  • approximate figures
