A qualitative research approach was used for data analysis. Data were collected through observations and semi-structured interviews. The data were processed using thematic categorisation. The results showed that prepared environment, student independence, freedom of choice, collaboration and a respectful and calm atmosphere are central features of Montessori classrooms. In music education, these same principles are reflected. Music instruction focused on sensory activities, music-making, the use of numbered scale degrees in instrumental practice, teacher presentations, and the integration of music with other subjects.etAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Estoniahttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ee/Montessori pedagoogikaalternatiivpedagoogikamuusikaõpetusesimene kooliastemagistritöödMontessori pedagoogika kasutamine põhikooli I kooliastme muusikaõppes Eesti Montessori kooliklasside näitelThesis
