The purpose of the thesis was to create a captivating and innovative city-building game by using fundamental principles of game design. The thesis analyses the genre's characteristics and fundamental mechanics. Existing games were examined both for inspiration and to ensure the game's uniqueness. The core mechanics of Steinnriki and their implementation are described. Additionally, the game underwent testing to evaluate its ability to deliver the intended gaming experience. The test results indicate that Steinnriki is indeed an engaging city-building game, however some problematic aspects became evident.
