Estonian Russophones did not perceive themselves as belonging anywhere. Instead, Estonian Russophone identity construction unfolded through cultural development that differentiated them from their significant Others. Aspirations for political representation and improvement of Russophones economic conditions remain salient, particularly due to financial crises of the time and perceived socio-economic exclusion.
