Despite this, the study of computer science varies across Estonia. The goal of the thesis was to describe the teachers’ vision of teaching computer science in the 3rd school level and based on this, give recommendations to improve the teaching of computer science. More precisely, teaching, supporting and hindering aspects were investigated as well as the role of computer science in the 3rd school level. Within the thesis, half-structured interviews were con-ducted with computer science teachers from Tartu county and Valga county, which was analysed with a qualitative inductive content analysis method. The teachers that participa-ted in the interviews discussed different topics related to the study of computer science, and brought out that it is important for children to learn to use digital competencies, which is hindered by the lack of tools and materials. The teacher’s interest to educate themselves and the childrens’ motivation to participate in lessons were brought out as supportive factors.etAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 EstoniaInformaticsteachersbasic educationthe 3rd school levelmagistritöödinformaatikainfotehnoloogiainformaticsinfotechnologyInformaatikaõpe III kooliastmes Tartumaa ja Valgamaa koolide näitelThesis
