Abstract

„Linguistic adaption among children from foreign countries: the example of Tallinna Lilleküla high school“. This paper describes linguistic adaption in Estonia among children from foreign country. The focus is on Tallinna Lilleküla high school, which is a good example of children with different backgrounds studying together. In this paper linguistic adaption has been seen wide, with different levels: national/social, institutional (school) and individual (motivation) with home support. In Estonia has so far been studied mainly students academical coping (Rannut). That’s because the objects of this study are school role in integration and individuals coping in society. The Bachelor Thesis provides answers to questions, which are about linguistic adaption of students from foreign country: which opportunities has been created institutionally; which possibilites are in schools; how important are language learning motivations in linguistic adapting and what is home support. However, it is understood that on the basis of the interviews is not possible to make larger generalizations about linguistic adaptation of students from abroad in Estonian schools in general. Therefore, in future studies this subject would require more in-depth approach, especially since this topic has been little studied in the context of Estonia.
