Further Development and Team Leadership for the „Experience-Based Analysis Method“ Application

The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to carry out the second phase of the development of the EbA-UIM application, focusing on both technical aspects and team management. During the project, the author further developed the application's backend, optimized the frontend table display, and made the application cross-platform using the Electron framework. The project was conducted as a team effort, with the author leading project management and coordinating team activities by using project management software and combining traditional and agile development methodologies. As a result, an improved and more user-friendly open-source version of the EbA-UIM application was completed.

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to further develop the user interface and front-end of the “Experience-based Usability Analysis Method” (EbA) desktop application, focusing on the implementation of new functionalities and the improvement of digital accessibility. The development was guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 and the European Union standard EN 301 549. The thesis provides an overview of the EbA method, accessibility principles and guidelines. The main focus was on enhancing the user interface with accessibility in mind, including keyboard navigation and screen reader support. The design process, implementation and testing of new components are described in detail. The application was supervised by the product owner and developed by a four-member team, with the author responsible for the design and front-end development.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design the front-end of the Experience-based Usability Analysis method application “EbA-UIM” and its user interface. The bachelor's thesis contains an overview of the Experience-based Usability Analysis method, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2, chosen design tools and choices, and technologies used in development. A list of functional and non-functional requirements for the application are presented in the thesis. This thesis also contains a comprehensive description of the designed application user interface, the results of three different conducted tests, the biggest challenges encountered and plans for further developments. The application was created in cooperation with a fellow student who in a full-stack developer role developed the application's back-end, database and part of the front-end.

The purpose of the bachelor’s thesis was to make an installable application for implementing the experience-based analysis method. As a result of the thesis an application was made. It is possible to set up and launch the application on computers with Windows operating system. The application created by the author has a back-end, database and a front-end. The design solution and a part of the front-end was made by the designer who joined the development team. The written part of the thesis contains an overview of requirements, used technologies, development process, completed application, validation, challenges and future development.

The aim of this thesis was to further develop the EbA method desktop application by migrating it to a cross-platform Electron framework. The author was responsible for ensuring the application's functionality on macOS and Linux. The author tested the application through manual testing methods and usability testing, using the think-aloud method. Test results provided valuable feedback for further improvements. As a result, in comparison to an earlier version, a more user-friendly, cross-platform EbA-UIM application was delivered.
