The aim of this thesis is to introduce and analyse three different information models used in microgrids: OpenADR 3.0, SunSpec Modbus and CIM. The thesis includes a case study of using different information models to read real-time data and control the output power of a PV inverter. As a result of the thesis, the best information model is chosen to be employed in the microgrid of FinEst Centre for Smart Cities. In addition to that, the main short-comings of the other information models are discussed.
