| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to develop a device based on the ESP-32 system-on-chip that displays real-time electricity prices and helps users schedule their consumption for cheaper hours. The design requirements emphasized affordability, user-friendliness, and minimal digital skills from the user. The final solution consists of an ESP-32 microcontroller and an LCD display (either ILI9341 or ILI9488 model). The software was developed using the open-source Arduino IDE, and electricity price data is automatically fetched via the Elering API. During the project, two prototypes with different screen sizes were created, which were tested in a pilot project with potential customers. The strengths of the device include its low cost, ease of use, and independence from smartphones or computers, making it particularly suitable for elderly users. | |
