Fotorealistliku Kuu pinnase materjali protseduuriline genereerimine
(Tartu Ülikool, 2025) Jõgar, Oliver; Plans, Mathias, juhendaja; Teras, Hans, juhendaja; Tartu Ülikool. Loodus- ja täppisteaduste valdkond; Tartu Ülikool. Arvutiteaduse instituut
The goal of this thesis was to create a procedurally generated computer graphics material of the Moon in the Unreal Engine 5 game engine, which would give the most photorealistic result possible. This thesis introduces the ULYSSES project, examines the properties of the Moon surface and explains the basics of computer graphics materials. The result was a procedural material made in Unreal Engine 5 that met the established requirements and which was compared against the real Moon.

    Procedural Generation of Gas Giants
(Tartu Ülikool, 2025) Prii, Simon; Plans, Mathias, juhendaja; Tartu Ülikool. Loodus- ja täppisteaduste valdkond; Tartu Ülikool. Arvutiteaduse instituut
This thesis presents a new way to procedurally generate gas giants. First, real life gas giants are briefly studied as well as previous work on the topic assessed. Then an algorithm is developed to improve upon previous work by first mapping textures on a sphere. The simulation is then brought to life by giving it movement based on velocity vecors. Then the previously studied visuals of gas giants are added using different methods of implementation. Finally configuration is added to be able to export the simulation as well a demonstration application to show the algorithm at work.

Reflexions – Creating Interactive Visuals With a Depth Camera
(Tartu Ülikool, 2025) Kuusk, Kreete; Plans, Mathias, juhendaja; Tartu Ülikool. Loodus- ja täppisteaduste valdkond; Tartu Ülikool. Arvutiteaduse instituut
The interactive digital art exhibition "Magic Mirror", located in the University of Tartu's Delta building, was due to be replaced by a new exhibition. This thesis examines the process of creating the new exhibition – using a depth camera to add interactivity to the works and assessing whether the new exhibition is good enough to replace the existing one. Different graphic techniques are used to create the visuals. As a result of this thesis, a new exhibition was created that could be used as a replacement for the "Magic Mirror" exhibition.

Reflexions - Using a Depth Camera to Create Interactive Generative Art
(Tartu Ülikool, 2025) Maandi, Henri; Plans, Mathias, juhendaja; Tartu Ülikool. Loodus- ja täppisteaduste valdkond; Tartu Ülikool. Arvutiteaduse instituut
This thesis documents the creation of an interactive art exhibit called „Reflexions“. The thesis includes information about depth cameras and how they were used in the context of „Reflexions“, along with technical information about how the various artworks were designed. The thesis concludes by describing how the project was tested and a final analysis concerning various aspects of the project.

Stellar Manager – transpordi ja majanduse simulatsiooni mäng kosmoses
(Tartu Ülikool, 2025) Tamm, Henrik; Plans, Mathias, juhendaja; Tartu Ülikool. Loodus- ja täppisteaduste valdkond; Tartu Ülikool. Arvutiteaduse instituut
This thesis provides an overview of the design, development, and testing of the transport and economy simulation game "Stellar Manager." The aim of the game is to create an engaging simulation set in a space environment, where the player can explore star systems and planets, construct buildings to produce resources, and establish interplanetary transport chains. The game was developed using the Unity game engine, with a focus on the economic system, user interface, and space environment. The game was tested with players in two rounds, and based on their feedback, the implemented features were modified. The final version of the game meets the originally set goals and lays the foundation for further development.
