Description
The topic of the present paper is “The reflection of the school violence in Estonian press”.
This topic is getting actual for the Estonian press during the last years, cases of the school
violence become a subject of examination by the Estonian press.
Still there are differences in presentation of this topic by the Estonian press published in
Russian and Estonian press. The Estonian press considers the most important the operative
informing about the cases, while the Russian-language press tries to analyze the
information in details: who is guilty, what are the reasons and who is responsible for
solving the problem. In turn the Estonian daily newspapers try to answer the question,
what to do in order to solve the problem?
There are differences also in a way, how the newspapers speak about the issue of the
school violence. In the Estonian newspapers there is paid more attention to certain cases of
the school violence with certain actors. In the Russian newspapers the authors mention he
problem of the school violence in general, mainly quoting opinions of other specialists and
experts, the character way of discussing of these problem is emotional and evaluative even
in these articles, which claim o be analytical. Still there is practically no differences in
attitude to the problem of the school violence between Estonian and the Russian-language
press.
