Abstract

IMPLICATIONS OF NEUTRINO MASSES The present thesis explores models linked to the mechanisms of neutrino masses, encompassing three publications of the dissertant. Neutrinos are particles that interact only via the weak interaction. In the Standard Model, neutrinos are massless. Therefore the recent discovery of tiny neutrino masses implies new physics beyond the Standard Model. We studied the seesaw mechanism where the light neutrinos are given masses either by heavy right-handed neutrino singlets or by a scalar SU(2) triplet, and models that link neutrino masses to other new physics like dark matter, leptogenesis or muon anomalous magnetic moment. In the first publication, running of neutrino masses in the type I seesaw mechanism was studied. In the second publication, we explored generating neutrino masses at one-loop level together with muon g – 2, dark matter, and resonant leptogenesis. In the third publication, we explored the possibility of discovering the double-charge Higgs boson predicted by the type II seesaw mechanism in the Large Hadron Collider. Esimeses artiklis uurisime neutriinode masside ja segunemisnurkade sõltuvust energiast I tüüpi kiigelauamehhanismis. Teises artiklis käsitlesime neutriinode masside genereerimist ühe silmuse tasemel mudelis, mis seob neid tumeda aine, müüoni anomaalse magnetmomendi ja resonantse leptogeneesiga. Kolmandas artiklis uurisime, kuidas II tüüpi kiigelauamehhanismi kontrollida prooton-prooton kiirendis LHC.
