REPRESENTATION OF MYTHS AND EMOTSIONS IN ARTICLES AND IN THEIR COMMENTARIES ABOUT TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. Key words: emotions, myths, commentaries, commentators, journalists, journalism, articles. The goal of this Bachelor’s Degree Thesis was to analyse emotions in online-articels and to analyse different myths and emotsions what are expressed in commentaries. The conducted analysis covered articles that were published in Estonian online-journalism during 01.01.2008-31.12.2009 in two different online-publication. These articles was taken from Eesti Päevaleht (19) and from Õhtuleht (15) (altogether 34 articles). The selection of comments was formed by all comments that were written to the 34 articles and which represented traffic accindents, emotions and myths in commentaries (altogether 582 comments). In Õhtuleht there was 370 comments and in Eesti Päevaleht there was 212 comments what represented emotions and myths about traffic accidents. The outcome of the aticles analysis showed that the journalists do not represent their own emotions and opinions about the traffic accident in their articles. Articles were mostly written in neutral and comments in negative tonality. But journalists use citatione of eyewitnesses and also use photos in their articles. Journalists use emotional headlines in their articles and that rises human intrest in public. In headlines journalists use words as death, dying and so on. The outcome of comments analyse pointed out that major represented emotsions are fear, joy, hope, sadness, powerlessness, helplessness, anger, confusion and excitement. The second result is the commentators main communication intent in comments. The commentators come to commentaries with certain intent. The commentators want to share their own experiences about traffic accidents. Commentators spoke about many other topics as well that were not related to the articles. Mostly it was spoken about causes and reasons of traffic accindents. Also commentators share their own experiences according to accidents. In the commentaries people also express different myths and emotions about traffic accidents.en
