| dc.description | State can operate and start institutional processes only if there is sufficient legitimacy, which in turn requires people, the highest authority in a democracy, to trust in political institutions. So this bachelors thesis studies the origin and change of trust in political institutions and foremost, if party preferences affect the extent of trust in political institutions. The study is based on the research Mina. Maailm. Meedia, which has been conducted on three different years. The results indicate that there is a verified connection between the trust in parliament, government and president institutions and party preferences. Trust in political institution is affected if the preferred party or its representative is heading the particular institution. Trust in parliament is lower if the preferred party has not got any mandates or is not in the coalition. Trust in government is affected if the preferred party is in the coalition or not and the president institution is trusted more by people who are preferring the party president used to belong to. Also this result confirms the micro theory, which says that the origin of trust is individual by every person. | en |
