Abstract

This Bachelor’s thesis is on the topic of automatic poetry generation. The aim of the thesis is to create a poetry generator which conducts a poem based on a text provided by the user. The poem must follow certain poetic elements such as rhyme, metrical rhythm and strophic structure, according to the user's choice. In addition, the paper includes an overview of similar existing applications and describes poetics as a larger subject. An overview of chosen poetic rules is presented, and the derivation of algorithms based on these rules is described. To conclude, an overview of the application’s weaknesses and strengths is provided, as well as solutions for improving the software, along with a description of potential future development opportunities on this topic.
