Abstract

The aim of this paper is to establish how two different UK media publications, the Daily Mail and The Daily Mirror, present immigration-related news. Are there any significant differences in the news on the same theme? Does political orientation affect the way the news is being reflected? The introduction and first chapter provide generic knowledge about immigration and explain the need for it. Immigration numbers in the world and in the United Kingdom are discussed. The second chapter analyses how two UK media publications, the Daily Mail and The Daily Mirror, introduce the topic and sees if the political views are an important aspect on how the news are presented and if different wording and/or attitude towards the topic is apparent. The conclusion summarises the main findings of the topic.
