The topic of this thesis is trauma in Rawi Hage’s novel De Niro’s Game. The aim of
the thesis is to explore the characteristics that make Rawi Hage’s De Niro’s Game a
postcolonial Bildungsroman and to compare the characteristics of the novel to the
characteristics of the postcolonial Bildungsroman demonstrating the significance of trauma in
postcolonial Bildungsroman and in Hage’s novel.
