Development of a Course on Web-Application Development in Software Engineering

Abstract

This thesis describes the process of development and delivery of an updated version of the course “Web-Application Development” in the Institute of Computer Science of Univer-sity of Tartu. Main focus of the course is to familiarize bachelor’s students with the core concepts of web development, such as web servers, multi-tier architectures, development and deploy-ment flows, front-end, back-end and their respective major technologies and tools. This thesis explains learning objectives and educational considerations that were used to model this course. The thesis goes into details of materials and topics of the course. This paper also analyzes the student feedback and suggests future possible improvement ideas and considerations.
