dc.descriptionThe goal of this Bachelor’s Degree Thesis was to analyse the representation of Aivar Otsalt in relation to the case of Kalle Kolk. The conducted analysis covered articles that were published in Estonian journalism and were related to the Aivar Otsalt’s name and spoke about Kalle Kolk’s case (altogether 82 articles). The selection of comments was formed by all comments that were written to the 82 articles and which represented Aivar Otsalt (altogether 527 comments). Some of the onlinepublications didn’t have the opportunity to comment articles. The outcome of the analysis showed that the most intensive publisher was Postimees and majority of the commentators operated also in the Postimees website. The intensity was temporally highest in the middle of the case (10. – 13. week, 3.-30. March) and by the end of the period, when Otsalt’s punishment decision was published, the interest vanished (14. week, 31. March – 3. April). Otsalt’s name was mentioned in more than half of the comments, introductions and in the headings of the articles. The topics in the articles and comments that spoke about Kalle Kolk’s case were very similar. Albeit, commentators spoke about many other topics as well that were not related to the Kalle Kolk’s case. Mostly it was spoken about Otsalt’s resignation, his vacation escape and about his legal liability. In the commentaries people also talked lot about Otsalt’s relations with Ansip and Seli. Articles were mostly written in neutral and comments in negative tonality. The journalism didn’t give almost any assessments. Commentators also didn’t have a clear assessment about Otsalt’s views yet they were very negative toward Otsalt as a person. The journalism represented Otsalt mostly with the resignation theme, as did the commentators. Otsalt was by them both seen as an irresponsible leader.en
