Analysis of the depiction of monsters in Netflix’s Wednesday

Abstract

Wednesday (2022) is an American television series that follows Wednesday Addams as she navigates a boarding school for monsters. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse the monsters as ideological tools and the internal hierarchy within their community. The thesis is divided into the literature review and the empirical analysis. The former discusses previous research on monsters as ideological tools, their appearance and animalistic traits. The empirical analysis is divided similarly into the monsters in Wednesday as ideological tools, then their appearance and their animality to analyse the internal hierarchies of the community.
