The purpose of this thesis is to give an overview of what interpretative effects are produced using stylistic and lexical features in the prologue of George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones. This is done using the three categories of sensory imagery, evaluation and cohesion. These are then qualitatively analyzed through close-reading to assess how shifts occur between the English source text and Estonian target text, Troonide mäng, especially how effects are reduced, retained, intensified or recreated. Key words: Stylistics, translation studies, A Game of Thrones, Troonide mäng, George R. R. Martin
