Abstrakt

The aim of this master’s thesis was to develop learning material based on a Kärla parish skirt pattern for third-stage basic school craft education and to evaluate its suitability and usability through teacher and student feedback. As part of the design-based research, a MuIS user guide and instructions for making a songbook bag were created. The material was based on an analysis of Kärla parish striped skirts in Estonian and Finnish museum digital collections and was tested with third-stage basic school students. The data were analysed using qualitative content analysis. The results showed that the material helped connect practical craftwork, the use of MuIS, and conscious engagement with cultural heritage. Its implementation, however, requires teacher guidance and consideration of students’ prior skills
