The aim of this Bachelor`s thesis “Dynamics of Delivery Channels of Weekly
Newspaper Eesti Ekspress in 1996-2007” was to find out how have the delivery
channels of Estonia`s leading weekly newspaper changed in ten years.
Under the “delivery channels” it was considered subscribing the paper, buying it,
reading it in the library, getting it form friends and reading it at work.
The author tried to find answers to the following research questions: how have changed
the delivery channels of Eesti Ekspress, and for comparison, how have changed the
delivery channelst of daily newspaper Eesti Päevaleht and magazine Kroonika at the
same time.
The method of research was analysis of statistics. I also interviewed qualitatively three
experts from these editions and six readers of Eesti Ekspress.
The results showed, that the proportion of subscribers of all the editions have increased
enormously. In case of Eesti Ekspress, the number has increased from 13 percent to 32
percent. The experts said, that they have made big campaigns to accomplish that. The
readers said, that they are subscribing Eesti Ekspress because it is comfortable.
The percentage of buyers of these editions has decreased a lot (from 50 percent to 27 in
case of Eesti Ekspress) because of that. But also, as the experts said, because readers
can read the papers from the internet for free and they prefer to save money.
